About the Women's History Archive and Learning Centre

The Women’s History Archive and Learning Center preserves and activates the archives of major women’s organizations and movements in Pakistan. Established in 2023 at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, it is the first archive of its kind in the country. It is established by the Saida Waheed Gender Initiative (SWGI), which has been working on gender issues on campus and beyond since 2015.

The ASR/Nighat Said Khan collection was the inaugural donation to the archive. WHA welcomes and accepts donations of archival materials from other South Asian women’s organizations and movements, as also the private papers of South Asian women.

The archive is committed to providing access to students, scholars, and practitioners, and connecting the broader public to this important history.
